Black Hills Energy is set to recognize line and utility workers Monday as part of National Lineman Appreciation Day. Southern Colorado is served by about 50 lineworkers, who maintain and repair 3,700 miles of electric transmission and distribution lines. The employees answer 9,000 annual calls for service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to the company.
“Given the high winds and lightning in Southern Colorado, this achievement is a testament to the line workers and their commitment to the communities Black Hills Energy serves,” said Julie Rodriguez, public information officer for Black Hills. “These dedicated employees are members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 667.”
A class will focus on electrical, plumbing and building topics with representatives of the Pueblo Regional Building Department. Lunch will follow at 11:30 a.m. featuring guest speaker Karen Willson, code enforcement manager for the Pueblo Police Department, addressing the vacant property ordinance and landlord code enforcement issues.
The class is free for members or $25 for nonmembers. Lunch is $18 for members or $25 for nonmembers. For reservations, call or text 719-251-2257, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
